Easy Chicken Rice Bowl (Hawaiian-Style with Teriyaki & Big Poppa Flavor)

Alright kids… this one’s got backyard vibes written all over it. Big Poppa’s Chicken Rice Bowl is a little Hawaiian-inspired, a little griddle magic, and a whole lotta flavor packed into one bowl.

We’re talking juicy chicken thighs, caramelized pineapple, smoky sausage, and sweet onions—all braised in a rich combo of bone broth and teriyaki sauce. Then we pile it high over fluffy jasmine rice and hit it with sesame seeds and green onions like we know what we’re doing (because we do).

It’s fast, it’s bold, and it’s the kind of meal that makes leftovers… disappear.

Why This Recipe Rocks

You’ve got sweet, savory, and smoky all playing together in one pan. The Desert Gold Seasoning brings citrus, garlic, and sesame notes that tie everything together, while the pineapple caramelizes and gives you that perfect sweet bite.

One pan, one bowl, zero complaints.

How to Make a Chicken Rice Bowl

1. Brown the Sausage

Cook sliced sausage in a pan until browned and slightly caramelized. Remove and set aside.

2. Season & Sear the Chicken

Add oil to the pan and season chicken thighs with Desert Gold. Sear until lightly browned (about 30–50% cooked).

3. Add the Veggies

Toss in red bell pepper, onion, and pineapple. Cook until slightly softened and starting to caramelize.

4. Build the Braise

Return sausage and chicken to the pan. Add a mix of bone broth and teriyaki sauce (about 50/50).

5. Simmer & Finish Cooking

Cover and cook about 15–20 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F internal temp.

6. Reduce & Glaze

Uncover and let sauce reduce slightly. Add a final drizzle of teriyaki for a glossy finish.

7. Build the Bowl

Spoon over jasmine rice. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and pickled jalapeños or onions.

Serving Ideas

  • Add avocado for extra richness
  • Swap rice for cauliflower rice for low-carb
  • Drizzle with spicy mayo for a kick
